Simply Terrible
As an Android refugee and current YouTube Red subscriber, I feel like I can speak with an unbiased voice. This is a terrible application and subpar by 2017 standards with regards to interface and lacks many of the basic features every other music app Ive used has. I am not a music junkie either, and its frustrating enough for me. So Id imagine you were, youd hate it. So whats wrong?
-Clunky interface with zero customization (hate bright white backgrounds at night? Tough!)
-500 song playlist limits (why?!)
-Download songs to store locally is a hassle / nearly impossible. There is literally no way to download my entire music collection. I have to manually download each album or each playlist. But get them all? Impossible.
-Playlists section only displays "recent playlists", by default at the top. As in your most recent four. No way to change order displayed or remove auto-generated playlists.
-No welcome screen / bland interface, which is a minor grip for a free user. But for paying users you seriously question why youre paying for this when Spotify as a modern & simple UI.
-Horrible website, yep, managing your playlists and songs on a browser presents the same cluncky interface and odd limitations (like being only able to remove on song at a time from a playlist when you mistakenly add the album).
Its been like this for at least the last year now (when I switched to iPhone). I have zero faith Google plans to overhaul its app or frankly cares. Instead of waiting longer Im going to switch to Spotify, their free trial was more than enough to convince me they take their music app / experience seriously for paying users.
