Chromecast music connection broken

Used to work great, but since last update iOS app refuses to connect. A Buick beep to indicate its trying, then immediately disconnects. Multiple reboots of router and devices as well as resorting to factory reset of all devices has not resolved. Chromecast device has valid IP, and is seen in the home app as ready to cast, but will not connect. Canceling play service and relegating Chromecast device to basement box of flawed tech.
