Bottom line is google play music kills them all. Itunes is a joke and spotify is just crap. If i want someone to pick my music for me then i guess its ok but im a grown man capable of doing that myself. I have paid for all of them and i have to be honest with myself and that means google music is the best. A great selection and a bonus of you tube red. Plus the videos are a great plus. Lets face it spotify cant keep up and itunes is so greedy. Even together they can’t make a good music app. The other apps are not even worth the mention except Pandora. I love that app and i use it a lot but thats a different kind of story. However, google music is king of the hill now and always will be. Do yourself a favor and give it a try i think you will like the way you sound. Later guys stay safe.

Freezes if I download a song, freezes if I open the library, freezes all the time!

I want to love this app but it’s impossible right now. Start up time, switching between pages, even selecting songs to play is so buggy and uncharacteristic of other Google products I use, it’s infuriating at times. Bluetooth audio in my car makes me want to throw my phone out the window. Songs stopping randomly, crashing, unable to run in background without stopping (when switching to and from my GPS app for example). Just brutal.

I’ve been a Google Play Music user since the days of the Nexus 7 in 2012, and I’ve always loved the app. When I jumped over to iOS, I was relieved that the Google Play Music app was robust and worked very well. However, over the years, it has steadily grown more unstable. The biggest issue now is on my iPhone 6 Plus, playback will crash and stop whenever the app is opened, or if I move too fast through the interface. Even my brand new iPad Pro struggles to scroll through the app without lag. It seems to use a huge amount of resources, more than it ever did in years past. Google, please keep this app properly maintained, I don’t want to have to jump to Spotify or Apple Music!

The app used to work well, but recent versions are extremely slow and buggy.

The most recent update seems to not like any device android or iOS. I have had a lot of bugs to the point where I can’t even finish a song without opening and closing the app. I’m a paid user and I don’t appreciate paying for a defective service. 5 stars again when the problem is fixed

It’s an ok app, but coming from Spotify I realized that Google Play Music doesn’t even let you rename or add a cover image to a playlist. If you want a new name for your playlist, YOU HAVE TO DELETE IT AND MAKE A NEW ONE. WHY?! It’s so simple please let us rename playlists and add cover art. Oh and also make the app faster. It gets slow after a while and heats up me iPhone 7 Plus. Why tho?

See title. Music cuts out randomly, need to hit pause then play to get it working again. Not the sort of quality I’d expect from a Google app.

Needs a feature that can tell you how long your playlists are, would be super helpful, but other than that I love it.

Great app but every time I open the app my music freezes and I have to press pause then play, to get music going again...

What happened? The iOS app is terrible. It wont even play the song completely through. I can download any songs for offline listening.

This is a really good music app on of my favorite.!

The music stops playing when I bring the app into the foreground after its been backgrounded for a while. I have to pause and play. Sometimes the track restarts from the beginning. Will raise this to 5 stars if fixed but comeon Google, looking at the history it appears maybe you need to rewrite the app with a different approach to code stability. Hoping for the best now that youve merged with the YT Music product group. Youre teams need to go to burning man to fully unify. Also this isnt the app but nobody from google seems to care on your forum: please make family plans work with google apps accounts (feel free to test my account first)! --m.a.t.t@ kanar.net

UPDATE: 9/30/2017, my music will NOT by any means play an entire song start to finish without freezing, stopping, and then crashing entirely. or just the first two anytime i attempt to open. ANY. application on my phone including the Google Play Music app itself. start a song, press home; stops music app freezes. re-opens app to play music again for 5th consecutive try, entire app freezes and crashes before it fully loads. let’s say i want to listen to Tom Petty and text my friend back, well as soon as i press play on any Tom Petty song, (NOTE: downloaded for offline use or not downloaded, still happens regardless) and then i press home and it manages to keep playing, well the second iMessage gets opened the entire phone starts glitching and music once again, stops for no reason, and then the app crashes entirely. i really cant believe what im reading in just about ALL of these reviews of this app. its very clear the app has MAJOR issues that everyone is having i.e. I myself have even found my app crashing when downloading, taking extensive amounts of time to download and most significantly, my music freezes, pauses, skips, and all of the things of the sort regardless of downloaded albums/songs, and every single time the app is relaunched from multitasking, it stops my music and just about freezes and crashes attempting to load. this is very very unbelievably frustrating. id like to think the developers and so forth are reading these and attempting to fix these specific issues but i have high doubts considering the circumstances, app has only gotten worse through the updates.
