Google Play Music App Reviews

Great that it comes with YouTube Red but...

It is buggy (on iOS) and has been for almost 2 years. Over Bluetooth in the car if it doesn’t have perfect cell connection it’ll freeze on a song occasionally if the phone isn’t unlocked and on the app. The overall performance and ease of use is awful relative to other apps. Scrolling is a chore and I’m not going to admit to trying to find a song/playlist while driving but I’m sure people do and as dangerous as that is already, it’s made more so by having to stare at the phone to make sure the banner at the top didn’t suddenly shrink when you’re about to select something you want.

Broke casting

The latest version broke casting from my iPhone 7 to my google Home / Home mini . Booooooo

Won’t work

I love this app but I tried listening to my playlist last night and it wouldn’t play. It said I had to “subscribe”. I am already paying for my music but it says I’m not. I don’t know how to fix this??

Saved playlists.

PLEASE JUST FIX THE ISSUE WHERE SONGS IN PLAYLISTS GET RANDOMLY GET ERASED THEN THEY MAGICALLY COME BACK AFTER AWHILE

Great

It’s awesome

Doesnt work without wifi

This is a great app but I wish that it would work when my iPod doesnt have wifi like when Im heading to the beach.

Really

It won’t let me buy a subscription.

Awful and buggy app

Been trying to get away from spotify and trying different services that have an ios app. Ran this one for a month and on the PC/Mac its great but on IOS it falls short and really really short. Songs randomly stop playing for no reason at all on wifi and on cellular. If a call is accepted the native ios stored songs play and the app itself stops working. Garbage app and my service has been canceled. Unfortunately back to spotify yet again.

Very disappointing

- Really bad stuttering, especially while scrolling. This doesn’t happen on any other app on my phone, but framerate drops alarmingly when scrolling through songs - Album art doesn’t show up in offline mode when you bring it into the full screen playback mode (swiping up from the song on the bottom). I understand that this may save space to just download the thumbnails, but seriously no option to let them work in offline mode? It can’t be that much space.... - No option to download songs by themself for some reason. They have to be part of a downloaded playlist or you have to download the entire album - The “songs” tab is confusing. It looks like it shows all of the songs you have but aren’t in playlists (but can be downloaded as an album). It’s confusing - When you are not in offline mode, the time scrubbing bar in the lock screen rarely works. Usually it just sits at 0:00 even though music is playing. - Lots of other bugs like the one above, especially with the lock screen widget. Very unpredictable. Honestly, this is very disappointing for something from Google. I haven’t used a single app more slow and buggy than this. I hope Google gets their act together with their mobile apps.

Gave up

No longer worth the money. Using another service now. The main issue was albums randomly duplicating, albums not being synced between devices properly and even history and favorites not syncing. Glitchy, buggy, freezy, stops playing when phone locked, duplicate albums. Ugh TLDR AVOID

It can be annoying

Google play music is fundamentally a good service. The access to knowledge that Google has accumulated over the years is executed in a way that is fantastic in this app. The issue is in the way that this app runs at times. SoundCloud easily connects to my Google home every time; however, Google play music often fails to connect. That is a problem. Furthermore, the app isnt as stable as Spotify or Apple music. Though Google play isnt "poorly designed," it is certainly a far cry from the beautiful utopia of hardware and software that Google has begun to campaign under throughout the last couple of years.

No

I only use this because i was a part of the family plan. Terrible interface, usually crash. If you are looking for a proper music app with smoother experience, get Spotify or Apple music, seriously.

No added value

After starting with Songza premium, I stuck it out with Google Play and have found that since Googles acquisition, they have done little to nothing to improve the Play Music experience. Aside from a couple of early bug fixes, and new bugs that have not been addressed, I am not finding them to keep up with the music selection or any features. Compared to Spotify, I simply so no value add for this service which costs the same amount. I cant even effectively share links to songs with my friends, so my point is - whats the point? No competitive edge whatsoever.

I used to love play music

I honestly use to rave about Goole play music but its so clunky and always seems to crash or take way to long to start up. Im using this app on an iPhone 8 plus and I would think the app would run smoothly but it barely does most things without crashing. Please dont make have to change to Apple music. There are major issues with this app. Its unstable, its slow, and clunky. Hopefully you guys take this feedback into consideration.

Unstable work

Playback hangs if you skip a song, price is good but I think Ill go back to Deezer. Update: every second song is "unable to play"... its ridiculous. Im definetly canceling my plan.

Great selection, poor support

Have a thumbs up playlist of over 400 songs. Mark it for download. Days later find the playlist had been silently truncated to 70. Redownload all 400. Days later again find it truncated to 70. Contact support and be told to "buy a second phone to do our quality assurance for us". Ugh.

Would get 5 stars if glitches were fixed

As many other reviews say, there is annoying glitches. For me, song audio stops playing even though it shows the song is still playing. It will do it when I’m downloading an album or if I enter the app. So I have to pause the downloads and play it again. If you wanted to start an album over from the end to the beginning, the first song will start but skip to almost the end and play. But the music selection is amazing. Layout is easy to use. Another thing is already downloading albums will show being re-downloaded. Sometimes clean and explicit version of albums will splice together forming double tracks. Great app but a lot of weird issues

Love it, buuuutttt

Could you put, I guess it’s called a “cross fade” feature in? It blends your songs to one so near the end of a song, it starts fading out and the next song starts fading in... I seen this online somewhere but it never said which music app did it, and I tried my Apple Music and Google Play Music apps and neither of them had it... it looked like Apple Music too so I don’t know. That would be an awesome feature to get though maybe in the next update!

This is great

I got this app like 5 hours go and I love it it’s perfect

Chromecast

App won’t connect to any of my Chromecast’s.
